When I was about 27, I attended a community college majoring in Equine Technology. I loved everything about that school and went on to be a riding teacher. I worked at a dressage facility, mucked, trained, and taught. I had my own boarding barn for a time, as well. Then I got out of horses again until my daughter got the bug when she was about 11. So, I got back into horses. We rode at a Morgan barn and I started teaching a little again. We lived in the country in Maine and had a few horses.
Next door to me was a beautiful girls summer camp - fairly exclusive. I became their head of riding and my daughter was able to work with me as a teen. It was a super summer job. I had an int'l staff, I taught the staff some Centered riding and that's what we used with the campers.
Then I had another dry spell. Meanwhile, my daughter was in college in NC and got a horse. I eventually moved close and we now have 4 horses. She has two at her home and we have two ponies at a summer camp that is close to me. Our Dartmoor and Haflinger are used fairly lightly at the camp so I am able to ride them on a regular basis. Plus I work with one of their older, arthritic horses who has some dressage training.
These days: I ride about 3 times/week and mostly trail ride. I have a Sensation saddle (treeless) that I adore.
I would LOVE to find a man who rides! And yes, Western is fine.
